February 24 and 27

Stem changing QUIZ. After the Quiz we played Spanish Scrabble.
No homework.

February 28 and 29

Returned quizzes...really great scores all across the board! Today we took these verbs that you conjugated so beautifully and used them to write sentences, sentences we would use in everyday conversations. We started small, just putting thirty conjugated verbs on the board, correcting them as we finished. Then we used those corrected verbs as small units of longer sentences. We're getting there, ladies.
Homework: Complete the sentences in Spanish..10 points/ You need a dozen blank index cards next class.

February 16 and 17

Today was a review today: La Casa vocabulary and Stem Changing verbs. If there was time, the class played a couple of Loteria games with the vocab , again IF there was time! The emphasis was on the BOOT verbs; we had a lengthy exercise conjugating examples/ going to the board and editing our errors. Some classes did exercises in the text and some did an extra BOOT sheet. It doesn't matter because I will just reverse the two the next class period.
You will be quizzed on this next Friday or the following Monday, so you need to be asking questions or seeing me now instead of waiting until the last minute. This is simple IF you follow the elementary steps and imagine the BOOT on the grid!!

February 14 1nd 15

New and review material: vocab on The House: rooms, furniture, appliances and structural parts of the house like the walls, ceilings, bathroom fixtures, etc. We played three games of LOTERIA with the new words!

New Material: Stem changing or "Boot Verbs"

Nuestra bota

We copied notes on stem changing verbs and used the imaginary boot grid to help conjugate them.It is important to remember that these changes occur only in a designated vowel in the stem and in no way change the endings we have learned for present tense conjugations.

FEBRUARY 8 & 9

Our Quz: Possessive adjectives: 23 points

Estar + directions/ group activity. Each group had to place our nine pinata pals in a "still life"; then nine sentences were composed giving the members positions in relationship to some member. To conclude the activity, I read the nine sentences to another group to see if they could accurately place our pals in the same position as the "still life" without viewing it. This was not nearly as easy as it sounds!

El guitarrista esta cerca del violinista.
Homework: Bring blank verb cards to class....

February 6 & 7

Today's review material covered a quick Practica for next block's quiz.
We returned to the LAB and Conjuguemos.com for a review of the vocab from Chapter 5.
Nw material: Use of estar to denote location (activity: Alejandro y Frida) and  specific location prepositional phrases. This can all be found on 174-5 in the text. We also did exercise 24 on p. 175.
Homework: Study your worksheets for the quiz next block.

February 2-3

We reviewed the quiz results answers;  no one kept the paper because there are a number of you out there who have to make this up! It is your responsibility to see me.
We went to the LAB to use a new web site: Conjuguemos.com. On the web site we used both the Grammar Link (#2 Present tense of regular verbs)  and the Vocab by book link. Remember our text is Expresate I and we are going to Capitulo 4. You may select the first or the second part (no me importa). The hangman option is actually quite useful for learning the new words!
We also completed together (on the board) a lengthy exercise on the possessives.
Homework: you will have a quiz on the possesives in TWO class periods.

January 31 & February 1

Quiz (little Exam?): regular and irregular conjugations and translation. 45 points.
January 27 & 30

We reviewed the vocab on La Familia as well as a lengthy Practica on present tense verb conjugation of all the verb in our Verb Card set. There will be a 45 point quiz next class on the conjugations; you may use your cards! LAB time.
Homework: Bring your grid sheets and card sets to class ; you cannot leave class to get them.
